Bioethics Forum of the German Ethics Council

In the context of reproductive medicine, particularly tough ethical conflicts arise again and again, which sometimes take on cultural warfare characteristics. While some reproductive medicine measures are widely accepted, certain measures – such as surrogacy, egg donation or abortion – are at the center of intense controversy.

How does society want to deal with the different opinions that exist in this context? The Bioethics Forum does not aim to shed light on the scientific basis or moral quality of individual measures, but rather focuses on the way in which they are or should be discussed. This influences both individual decisions and social developments.
