Released in February 2025, Janine Adomeit’s second novel tells, with surprising ease, a bitter story about pain, loneliness and loss. For years, a muchtoo-young pair of siblings takes care of their chronically ill mother. The family shatters and, after years of silence, the now adult siblings must face their past and their wounds.

Prosa der Verhältnisse is a literary series organised by the Maxim Gorki Theatre and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
