The American Chrissie Hynde founded The Pretenders over 45 years ago. The first record was a global success and dozens of singles entered the charts. To this day, The Pretenders represent a whole generation of British musicians after the great punk era.
Their new program promises a relaxed mix of “new tracks and Pretenders classics”. Unfortunately, only the singer and guitarist Hynde remains of the original line-up. In the fall she performed in Hamburg and Berlin with a young bassist, a Danish drummer and the not-so-new guitarist James Walbourne. The well-rehearsed guitarists harmonize perfectly on stage and create a powerful sound that goes straight to the heart.
Chrissie Hynde has lost none of the strength that made her one of the first energetic bandleaders on the rock circuit. She still retains her sharp humor, talent for songwriting and high musicality. It's great that The Pretenders are coming to Berlin again in March.
