How the urban climate is changing our flora
The Plant Climate Culture project! investigates research questions to what extent the phenology (annual course of the development stages) of selected herbaceous plants reflects the urban climate: Do plants actually bloom earlier in the warm city center than on the outskirts? It also deals with the visions of the citizens for the green city of tomorrow. Over 200 citizens in Berlin, Halle, Jena and Leipzig support this project as citizen researchers.
On the long day of urban nature, the project wants to take interested parties on a small phenological tour of the botanical garden, which will lead to a model bed at the end. Here it is shown how citizens can contribute to research in their own gardens.
Afterwards, everyone is invited to exchange ideas and visions of the future of a climate-resilient and biodiversity-friendly city of Berlin.
