Ottorino Respighi - Lauda per la Natività del Signore, Christmas music for choir, voice and woodwinds. In this hymn of praise to the Christmas miracle, sonorous choral passages alternate with solo parts of Mary, the angel and the shepherd, accompanied by the sound of the shepherd's instruments.
The music is stylistically diverse, ranging from late romantic elements to neo-baroque elements and back to echoes of Gregorian chant. Intimate moments alternate with great sonority in this songful work.
Ottorino Respighi completed the sacred choral work "Lauda per la Natività del Signore", which remains singular in his oeuvre, in 1930.
