NoonSong - Song & Prayer

Lively
music for mixed choir from the period of transition from the Renaissance to the
Baroque can be heard in this NoonSong, which is entirely dedicated to singing.
It is not only the music of Monteverdi and Viadana that reflects the splendour
of Rome and Venice.

The Nuremberg composer Hassler was one of the first of a long line of German composers who studied in Italy, especially in Venice, and spread the Italian style in Germany.

  • Preces: Simon Berg (1973-): Preces und Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 18 Hans Leo Haßler (1564-1612): Diligam te, Domine
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 98 Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643): Cantate Domino, aus: Libro 1 de moteti di Giulio Cesare Bianchi (1620)
  • Canticum: Lodovico Viadana (1560-1627): Magnificat primi toni
  • Choral: Johann Georg Ebeling (1637-1676): Du meine Seele singe

NoonSong - what's that?

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music lovers and admirers of architecture alike attend NoonSong. It is a concert and a church service in equal measure.  Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin, led by Stefan Schuck, sing choir music. The repertoire ranges from music from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions.
