Operetta for a singer who does what she wants

Nini Stadlmann “Kiki from Montmartre” Operetta for a singer who does what she wants In this extraordinary adaptation of “Kiki from Montmartre”, Nini Stadlmann, directed by Katja Wolff, sings and plays her way through all the characters of this enchanting operetta with virtuosity.

Accompanied on the piano by Carsten Gerlitz, the emancipated “Kiki”, who plays the accordion in the streets of Paris, strives for advancement in show business.

With unshakable self-confidence and a dose of naivety, she outdoes experienced rivals and recognizes the love of her life in the overwhelmed theater director Max.

Carsten Gerlitz lets Heymann's melodies blossom and creates the connection between popular and serious music that represents the essence of his compositions.

The premiere planned for 1933 at the Komische Oper Berlin was banned by the Nazis. Werner R. Heymann was unable to attend the successful premiere in Vienna a year later, as he was already in American exile. The play was lost in the chaos of European war and premiered on June 5, 1954, at the Stuttgart State Theater to thunderous applause.
