In Katja Riemann’s first novel, half the world is covered in fog, while fires and swarms of locusts rage. A musician named Johaenne stands on her windowsill on the fifth floor, with a cemetery conveniently located right next door. The man whom she loved infinitely has disappeared from her life, but her love for him remains. What now?!

She flees the city to live in her dead father’s bungalow in the countryside. She’s joined by Jamal and Shenmi, the pianist Ayo, and a small dog. As the fog descends on the house, the four women clarify the circumstances for themselves. In a world where everything is disappearing, they live out solidarity and love. And Johaenne realises that she must give herself permission to be happy.
