Her intense preoccupation with themes such as migration, exile and state control is inextricably interwoven with her biography-she was born in Beirut in 1952 to Palestinian parents. In her most recent works, Hatoum has turned in particular to the exploration of precarious conditions in a globalised world.

The show is realised in cooperation with the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, the Kindl Centre for Contemporary Art and the Georg Kolbe Museum and spans all three exhibition venues.
