medea/screams is an experimental music theater performance on the border of opera, dance, and installation. The myth of Medea is condensed into a hypnotic choreography in which light, body, and sound merge. A three-headed vocal ensemble traverses a concentrate of extreme emotions. Lust turns into pain, anger gives way to grief. Driven by an electronic composition that modulates recordings of authentic screams into an abstract soundscape, fragments of popular opera literature become controlled studies on the loss of control. The tragedy of Medea becomes an intoxicating ritual.

Composition and Realisation: Dennis Krauß

Creator Dennis Krauß studied at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music and works as a director and stage designer for theater and opera as well as a producer in the field of electronic music. In his second work at the Uferstudios with the title MEDEA / SCREAMS, he repeatedly merges his various fields of work into an idiosyncratic border crossing between concert installation, physical theater, and dance.
