Vocal soloists and instrumentalists from all over Europe come together for the Lehnin Winter Music and ensure an atmospheric pre-Christmas season in the festively decorated Lehnin monastery church. Together with the choir of children, young people and adults from Lehnin and the surrounding region, J. S. Bach's Christmas oratorio will be presented at a matinee on the 3rd of Advent.
It is traditionally one of the highlights of a Bach concert year, which was already heralded by the Lehnin Summer Music in the middle of the year. The Bach year in Lehnin ends with the festive oratorio, which focuses on the birth of Jesus Christ in the stable in Bethlehem and the adoration of the shepherds and the three wise men from the East. The Lehniner Kantorei, the Kloster Lehnin Singing School and the Cantores minores sing the first and fourth cantata of the work lively and lively together with the vocal soloists and guests.
