For this year's Gallery Weekend Berlin, Galerie Klemm's is temporarily opening its future new space in Leipziger Strasse for Jonas Roßmeißl, who explores the realities of the unfinished in "Streitbildhauerei".

In his work, Jonas Roßmeißl deals with the opposing forces that surround us - the image economies and the associated politics, concepts of publicity, identity and intimacy.
He approaches his overarching themes by analysing the terms 'emptying' and 'deletion', 'standardisation' and 'precision'.

In a setting related to the specific character of the exhibition spaces that are still being created, Roßmeißl stages a dialogue of sculptural objects, wall-bound and filmic works and traces the mechanisms of interaction systems between man and machine.

In doing so, he poses questions about the socio-economic environment in which we live, which is characterised by technology and created under the assumption of 'infallible precision':
What happens when the global systems of communication and financial interaction break down? What happens when the sedative of the image stream breaks down and any sense of 'being-safe' erodes? Are continued uncertainty and the 'big wide-open' really bearable conditions or does this mean that the concept of civilisation/civilisation as we know it fails?

Parallel to Jonas Roßmeißl's solo exhibition in the main rooms on the second floor, there will be a programme in the gallery's future project space on the lower level, which will develop in cooperation with the Brussels-based artist-run space "briefing room" - artist talks, screenings, readings and a gradually expanding hanging of works by artist friends will enliven the space until the summer.

After that, the actual expansion of the gallery will begin, which will open for Berlin Art Week in autumn.
