Like hardly anyone else, 79-year-old guitarist John McLaughlin has shaped the music of our time: from the blues rock of his youth in England to his groundbreaking contributions alongside Miles Davis, for example for his album "Bitches Brew," to his own Mahavishnu Orchestra, close collaboration with colleagues such as Carlos Santana or, of course, Al Di Meola and Paco de Lucia, and the Indo-Jazz fusion of Shakti.

With his group The 4th Dimension with drummer and keyboardist Gary Husband, bassist Étienne M'Bappé and drummer Ranjit Barot, the world musician from Yorkshire, who has meanwhile been awarded the "Grammy" and voted "Guitarist of the Year" seven times by the jazz bible "Downbeat", has been bundling the creative power, the joy of playing and the cultural openness of all these experiences into a fascinating rarity for a good ten years: sophisticated, virtuoso, improvised music that is emotional and stirring, especially in concert.
