Karen Ng, an excellent saxophonist and busy organiser from Toronto, has been visiting Europe regularly for several years, especially Berlin, and can look back on a large number of concerts with musicians from the local scene.

The quartet Maramikhu with Rieko Okuda on piano, bassist Antti Virtaranta and Rudi Fischerlehner on drums has come together again and again for sessions and concerts in the course of these visits and has thus crystallised into a permanent band.
The title, Maramikhu, is a word from the Andaman language and refers to a space between reality and dream in which it is impossible to distinguish between the two states. With hypnotic sounds, the quartet invites the listener into an imaginary world of sound, a sonic journey into intermediate musical worlds.
