Mozart's unfinished Requiem is touching with its stirring drama, its deep melancholy and its comforting soulfulness. Not least because of the partly mysterious history of its creation, which is linked to Mozart's own death, it is surrounded by a touch of mystery, by a transcendental aura.
Together with the Chamber Choir Ireland, the Irish Chamber Orchestra under Thomas Zehetmair will perform Mozart's masterpiece; a new work by the renowned Irish composer David Fennessy will also be heard as the German premiere.
Works performed:
- David Fennessy: Blood
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Requiem K.626
Performing:
- Irish Chamber Orchestra
- Chamber Choir Ireland
- Thomas Zehetmair, conductor
- Ailish Tynan, soprano
- Carolyn Holt, mezzo soprano
- Robin Tritschler, tenor
- Padraic Rowan, bass
The concert is part of the Zeitgeist Ireland 24 cultural season, an initiative of Culture Ireland and the Irish Embassy in Germany
