"Palim, palim!" As Didi, he made generations of television viewers laugh. And yearned for decades to be more than "just" a comedian. Dieter Hallervorden took over the Schlosspark Theater in Berlin at the age of more than 70, when most people have long since retired.
And in recent years he has surprised millions of moviegoers as a character actor in "His Last Race" or "Honey in the Mind". Tim Pröse has followed in the footsteps of this development. For his biographical portrait, he accompanied Hallervorden for a long time and held numerous conversations with him - as well as with his partner and son, companions, friends and prominent colleagues. He visited Hallervorden on his private island in Brittany, to which the artist has been regularly withdrawing for years. The result is a strongly narrated and personal approach to the sensitive and self-critical people of Hallervorden. A special look at an extraordinary journey through life and a book that answers one of the biggest questions: How do you just become yourself?
