Built in 1941, the heavy-load structure is one of the last relics of the monstrous and inhumane National Socialist urban planning. Not far from the planned north-south axis, the concrete cylinder weighing more than 12,000 tons was intended to test the load-bearing capacity of the soil. Commissioned by Albert Speer, theGeneral Building Inspector for the capital, thousands of people were victims of housing loss, forced labor and deportation in the course of the planning. The guided tours show the site as well as the innermost part of the heavy load-bearing structure and shed light on the history of the structure and the crimes committed in the course of National Socialisturban planning.
