Indigo Waves and Other Stories: Re-Navigating the Afrasian Sea and Notions of Diaspora
The Indian Ocean is considered the oldest continuum in human history. In several chapters, the exhibition approaches this ocean as a common horizon from which to read the Afrasian (i.e., belonging to both Africa and Asia) stories of forced and voluntary movements through the currents of cultural connections, of trade contacts and colonial rule.
