Berlin Vocaphoniker
No composer and lyricist has shaped German and international cabaret like Friedrich Hollaender. On the occasion of his 125th birthday, the Berlin Vocaphoniker have created their very special revue, which presents a musical cross-section of the master's enormous oeuvre.
What would Marlene Dietrich be without the songs of "big little Fritz" (Charlie Chaplin)? Many other stars of German and international entertainment also sang his songs:
Blandine Ebinger, Claire Waldoff, Heinz Rühmann, Comedian Harmonists and later Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Brian Ferry, Milva, Eartha Kitt and even the Beatles!
Join us on a journey through time that takes us from the Berlin cabaret of the Golden Twenties to film music in Hollywood, back to post-war Berlin and then on to themes of this era in the Fifties and Sixties.
From tango, swing, waltz to boogie woogie, there is something for (almost) every musical taste - spiced with witty and sometimes bitterly ironic lyrics.
