Friedman talks

The elections in Germany are free and equal – still? Is democracy under threat? What challenges and threats do we have to overcome in the coming years? What is at stake if people do not defend democracy? What means could the enemies of democracy in parliaments use to undermine liberal society in the medium and long term? What can people do about it?

Melanie Amann studied law in Trier, Aix-en-Provence and Berlin and received her doctorate from the LMU Munich. After various positions as an editor, she moved to SPIEGEL in Berlin in 2013.
