Start of the anniversary programme: As the first of a total of 10 concerts to mark its 10th anniversary, Stegreif presents #free∃roica at the Theater im Delphi, a programme that embodies the origins and visions of the ensemble. #free∃roica is dedicated to revolutions and new beginnings - historically and musically.
Without sheet music, conductor or seating arrangements, Stegreif breaks with classical concert conventions and opens up new perspectives. Inspired by Beethoven's Eroica, the orchestra deconstructs, improvises and transforms the familiar in a surprising new light. With oversized props and a flexible orchestral set-up, a revolutionary interpretation of the masterpiece is created.
The programme combines Beethoven's quest for the new with Stegreif's vision of a musical awakening - from the French Revolution to the present day.
It is both a homage and a journey through time: How do revolutions end? Who are the heroes? And how does Stegreif's own revolution in classical music succeed?
