Fantasia Malware
Presenting video games in unique performative settings is the hallmark of the Berlin collective Fantasia Malware, who return to HAU for the fourth and final instalment of the Fever Loop Fountain series. The evening will feature two short performances, each taking a different approach to overstimulation and sensory experience.
Chloê Langford (Fantasia Malware) has invited guest artist Zane Hettinga to collaborate on the first performance of the night. “Hand in a Cave” follows the descent of a disembodied digital hand, crawling forward into the darkness, searching for sensory data in a computer-generated cave. Meanwhile on stage, a creature with cameras for hands probes the black box of the theatre, scanning for data to feed to its digital twin.
The second performance features Fantasia Malware member Jira Duguid, who will present a new chapter of her episodic “Mirror Mall”. The video game is a world within a mirror, where two young cherubs flee heaven to the void beyond. This immersive performance is a collaboration with composer and sound designer Kris Wratt.
