Invited to Theatertreffen 2023

Max Stirner anticipated Nietzsche’s theses, drew on hundreds of Marxist-Engelsian texts and prompted Camus to call him a "nihilistic rebel". His major work The Unique and the Property from 1844 is rebellious indeed. It rejects any notion of self-enslavement by higher authorities, attacks all morals beyond self-interest, and makes a plea for radical egoism and the notion of individual responsibility for actions.

"Every being higher above Me, be it God, be it man, weakens my feeling of uniqueness and pales only before the sun of this consciousness."

In an unrivalled sharp and provocative tone, Stirner’s marginal but highly influential standalone text examines the relationship between the individual and society in a new way. Together with composer and musician PC Nackt and his ensemble, director Sebastian Hartmann invites the audience to a passionate exploration of the impositions and contradictions that Stirner’s thinking still holds today.
