Gipsy-Swing from Berlin
To call Django Reinhardt the inventor of the "Gipsy Swing" is probably legitimate. The brilliant guitarist and composer would have been 100 years old in 2010.
Bernd Huber and his guests look at the repertoire of the genre from an unusual perspective. They follow a rather chamber music approach and let Django Reinhardt's music appear in a new light.
They do not limit themselves to the classical pieces of this style. In addition to rarely performed titles from Reinhardt's pen, their programme also includes compositions by other Sinti musicians such as Tchavolo Schmitt and Ninine Garcia.
