by Reinhold Massag - one-person play with Peter Bause
Ottersdorf 1935. A small village in southern Germany, where Dominikus Schmeinta lives. Since he is no longer able to work on the farm, he is employed by the Reichsbahn as a train dispatcher. Every day he sits on his favorite bench at the station for this reason. One day a sign is screwed up there "Only for Jews".
He is not Jewish and there are no Jews in Ottersdorf. He decides to become a Jew so that he can continue to use the bench. Thus begins a struggle against the mills of the Nazi state and the German bureaucracy that takes on Kafkaesque forms.
