Performance
In the pavilion at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, critic Max Malini lives with his 2,800-cassette VHS collection. His days are punctuated by visits from his few social contacts.
The starlet he met at the Venice Film Festival and with whom he regularly discusses the interpretation of the stars; his childhood friend and captain, who tries to explain the philosophy of knots to him; a cleaning lady from his better days when he was still a feature editor at a major newspaper; and his old love, who visits him to convince the critic to part with his treasures, just as she once parted with him.
What remains are the recorded moments, images, and scenes of a (formerly) impressive collection of significant cultural moments. Now, one sees them only as the looming fire that now also dominates his dreams. In the glass pavilion, he struggles to finally formulate his influential critique of the never-ending power of being able to draw on them.
His nights, however, usually end with the sighting of one of the bonds that bind his life together like the shackles of love, the obsessions of the amateur. The nights are long when no one criticizes what is happening inside the glass pavilion.
Come here when the comet rises! The review begins.
