Autumn time is dahlia time! When summer ends and the days become shorter, the dahlias defy the rhythm of the seasons and bloom in all imaginable colors and shapes until the first frost. Around 7,000 dahlias open their blossoms at the large special show "Dahlia Fire" near the entrances Sangerhauser Weg and Tauernallee. On more than 2,000 square meters, the composite plants show themselves in pink, orange, purple or bronze.
Flower fields with 270 varieties present the dahlia in all its diversity. Special accents are set by the combinations with summer flowers and grasses. Did you know that the dahlia is a flower of the Aztecs? During the flowering weeks, the so-called "Dahlia Fire", the variety of colors is complemented by an accompanying information show on site. A special feature of the dahlia is that it can independently form new varieties. The so-called "sports" are color mutations in the otherwise constant flower, which prevail over several generations and thus form new varieties. When the summer slowly fades and the days become shorter again, the dahlias bloom in wonderful colors and shapes until the first frost.
