Unknown stories about women that have never been published in book form

“When it comes to the issue of equal rights, I go to the barricades.” – Brigitte Reimann, 1963

With her stories about women's lives, the author wanted to literary trace the position of women in society - she felt so strongly about the restrictions that she constantly had to fight against and the prejudices that she was repeatedly exposed to due to her self-confident life decisions.

“The complicated love stories that Brigitte Reimann describes or has experienced herself meet the feelings or at least the longings of the readers who feel encouraged by the boldness with which this author opens up to them.” – Christa Wolf

“Brigitte Reimann succeeds in making the intoxicating, impossible temptation a reality: living one’s own ideals.” – The New Yorker
