Contributions to the History of the Berlin Egypt Collection I

The first of the two lectures on the early history of the Egyptian Museum and the papyrus collection deals with the initial phase of the appearance of Aegyptiaca in Berlin from the end of the 17th century until 1819. The various early acquisitions of Aegyptiaca are presented with their previous owners; an attempt is made to to outline the gradual emergence of an "Egyptian collection".
