The BHF BANK Foundation awards the Brücke Berlin Literature and Translation Prize every two years. The prize honors a significant contemporary work from the literatures of Central and Eastern Europe and its outstanding translation into German. It is endowed with a total of 20,000 euros, half of which goes to an author and half to his or her German-language translator. German translations of contemporary works from the literatures of Central and Eastern Europe (prose, essay and poetry) will be considered. The patron of the prize is Nobel Prize winner for literature Herta Müller.

The Czech author Radka Denemarková and her translator Eva Profousová will receive the Brücke Berlin Literature and Translation Award 2022 for the novel Hours of Lead.

The award ceremony will take place on October 10, 2022 at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. Due to the pandemic, the winners of the Brücke Berlin Prizes 2020 will also be honored on the same evening: the Russian author Maria Stepanova and her translator Olga Radetzkaya for the novel Nach dem Gedächtnis , and the Bulgarian author Zdrava Kamenova and her translator Alexander Sitzmann for the play Home for Sheep and Dreams .
