Guided Tour

To mark the 12th nationwide “Archives Day”, this year under the motto “Food and Drink”, the Archives of the Akademie der Künste are also offering a glimpse into the kitchen. Selected artefacts from the estates of Anna Seghers, Günter Grass and Christa and Gerhard Wolf as well as historical advertising posters illuminate facets of the social and cultural history of food in the 20th century.

"Come and sit down, dear guest." Eating and drinking with Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel

Two special tours of the Brecht-Weigel Museum offer a glimpse into the kitchen and the dining table in the Brecht and Weigel household. Cookbooks, recipes and selected archive documents reveal preferences for Bavarian beer or Viennese coffee. Food and drink were not only frequently addressed by Brecht in his plays, songs and poems, a good meal was also always part of the get-togethers at the home of both artistic personalities.

The number of participants for all program items is limited.
