The free spaces in the BerlinZEIT in the Museum Ephraim-Palais will show resistance in southern Africa, German colonial policy made in Berlin and music against colonialism and apartheid.

2024 will mark the 30th anniversary of the end of apartheid in South Africa and the 140th anniversary of the Berlin Africa Conference.

To mark this occasion, students of the Master's program in Museum Management and Communication at the HTW Berlin are developing the exhibition "1884/85 - 1994: 110 years of anti-colonial resistance | The Struggle: South Africans in exile in Berlin".

The planned exhibition will be teased on eight free spaces in the BerlinZEIT before its opening in February 2025: from the Battle of the Salt River (1510) in what is now Cape Town to concerts by Miriam Makeba in the west and east of divided Berlin.

The opening event will be accompanied by live music.
