Hardly any other epoch of European art has produced such numerous and provocative upheavals in quick succession as the early 20th century. The arc of the avant-garde in painting and sculpture stretches from Expressionism and Cubism to Dada and Surrealism to New Objectivity. In dealing with originals, the participants follow these rapid developments.
