Fairy tales are bridges that enable encounters between fantasy and reality, between different epochs, between Orient and Occident and above all between different cultures and people across all borders.

Berlin is a multicultural city in which the BERLINER MÄRCHENTAGE have been asserting themselves for over thirty years and where almost 4.5 million young and old visitors have been welcome.

The audience comes from all parts of the world, speaks the most diverse languages and has the most diverse cultural backgrounds. Nevertheless, everyone can listen to the fairy tales and stories together, because fairy tales are the lowest common denominator between cultures. Because the wishes and dreams of all people are the same: everyone wants to live in peace, be healthy, be loved and have enough to eat.

Fairy tales show that you can achieve anything if you combine determination and courage with active action, if you find good friends, help each other and stick together.

Then there are no more borders: the poor miller's boy marries the princess and Puss in Boots becomes a minister. Whether the story is about the "Little Mermaid" or "Arielle", whether the heroine is called "Cinderella" or "Cinderella", the fairy tales are their own fantasy universe that knows no borders and where everyone is welcome.

“Human endeavor should know no bounds. No matter how bad life is, where there is life there is hope”
(Stephen Hawking)
