
“Weekend and sunshine ... I don’t need anything else to feel fine”: We can look forward to amazing concerts, hot fashion and cool summer vibes this weekend. A wonderful weekend in the Summertime full of great events awaits, thanks to the Classic Open Air, Berlin Fashion Week and many other highlights. Once again, we’ve put together a list of 11 top tips for you.
Tip 1: Classic Open Air
Gendarmenmarkt, arguably Berlin’s most beautiful square, is the festive venue for the Classic Open Air concert series. The opening night features a declaration of love for the city of Berlin, with songs from the 1920s to today. Then classical music highlights will ring out across Gendarmenmarkt, with a colourful light show and the most beautiful masterpieces of Italian opera. Then on Sunday four exceptional pianists will perform a concert together. On the last evening, the band "Die Prinzen" will perform with singer Christina Stürmer.

Tip 2: Berlin Fashion Week
The fashion world will gather in the German capital when Berlin Fashion Week’s shows and trade fairs present the latest trends for the upcoming winter season. Berlin’s creativity and unconventionality is reflected in the fresh, individual design of its fashion designers. Sustainability and eco-fashion are the main themes on the cat walk at this year’s Berlin Fashion Week. There is also a variety of public events in addition to the fashion shows, trade fairs and parties for the international fashion scene.

Tip 3: Get out to the lake
The sun is shining and the water is enticing – so pack your swimwear and head to one of Berlin’s lakes. Whether it’s Wannsee in the west or Müggelsee in the east – Berlin’s lakes offer fun in the water and relaxation onshore. It’s easy to reach many lakes by public transport: For example, the sunbathing area at Schlachtensee is just a few steps from the S-Bahn station.

Tip 4: Mediterranean Festival @ Birgit&Bier
The taste of the South: you can try seafood, tapas and lots more at the Mediterranean Festival. The festival will be serving up delicious delicacies and special dishes from the Mediterranean region, from Southern Europe to North Africa, right on the Lohmühle Island by the River Spree. There will also be cool live music in a relaxed atmosphere.

Tip 5: Umsonst & Draußen | Harmonie EMM Budel
Start your Sunday with cool film music and percussion: The Harmonie EMM Budel orchestra from the Netherlands will be performing popular melodies from famous film classics and blockbusters such as The Godfather, Star Wars and The Pirates of Caribbean on the open-air stage at the Spandau Citadel. Then the EMM percussion group will get the crowd going with their versions of famous songs.
When: 7 July, 11 am

Tip 6: Wolf Biermann live at the memorial
Songwriter Wolf Biermann will perform at the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial Open Day. Biermann, who was expatriated by the GDR in 1976, will give a one-hour open-air concert followed by a talk about his experiences in the GDR.
The memorial will also be presenting its work, and has organised guided tours, interviews with contemporary witnesses and workshops for young people.

Tip 7: Konzertsommer im Englischen Garten
The Teehaus at the English Garden is idyllically situated by the lake. A concert takes place every Sunday under the open sky as part of the Konzertsommer series. This Sunday Tankus the Henge will rock the summer garden. You can enjoy a relaxed picnic in Tiergarten beforehand to round off the weekend.

Tip 8: Open-air cinemas
It’s not everyone’s idea of a good time to sit inside a dark cinema in summer. But most people love watching films under the starry night sky. So take a look at the programme to see what films are on this weekend at the open-air cinemas, pack a blanket and get going. At the Freiluftkino Friedrichshain, for instance, the Oscar-winning farce "The Favourite" is on and at the Sommerkino at Kulturforum Robert Redford stars in "The Old Man & the Gun".

Tip 9: Weddingmarkt

You can discover the creative side of the hip district of Wedding at the Wedding Market. Browse the stands and enjoy the lively flair at Leopoldplatz. Artists and artisans from the surrounding neighbourhood present artworks and design pieces at the triangular market stands.

Tip 10: ROOFTOP SUMMER VIBES Rooftop Terrace
The sound of summer: round off the day and enjoy a mild summer evening with a great view and cool music. In addition to classy cocktails and delicious snacks, there is Café del Mar music and you can watch the sunset over the roofs of Berlin.

Tip 11: Hyundai Archery World Cup Berlin 2019
The World Archery Federation’s highest-ranking tournament series will come to Berlin at the beginning of July. From 2 to 5 July, the qualification for the final will take place at Maifeld at Berlin’s Olympiastadion. The final itself will then take place on 6 and 7 July at the Lilli-Henoch-Sportplatz central stadium at Anhalter Bahnhof in Kreuzberg. So come along and witness the elites of world archery up close.
