This weekend, Berlin will shine in a thousand colours, when its light festivals make famous sights and squares all over the city sparkle brightly. And autumn in Berlin is colourful in other ways, too – as well as delicious. At harvest and food festivals you can enjoy all the exquisite food that autumn has to offer.
Here are our 11 tips for a colourful weekend.
Tip 1: Festival of Lights and Berlin leuchtet
The two light festivals, Berlin leuchtet and the Festival of Lights, will illuminate the city in 100 colours – but only up until this weekend. The whole of Berlin will be transformed into a shimmering sea of lights – making it the largest open-air gallery in the world! Impressive light installations colourfully set the scene for Berlin’s landmarks, streets, squares and districts. By the way: the Festival of Lights is celebrating its anniversary – it has been illuminating Berlin in autumn for 15 years now. This year the festival’s theme is “Lights of Freedom”.
