Die Oberbaumbrücke in Berlin verbindet als Teil des Innenstadtrings die Ortsteile Kreuzberg und Friedrichshain über die Spree und liegt zwischen der Elsenbrücke und der Schillingbrücke. Sie ist das Wahrzeichen des Bezirks Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.

Even if the Berlin holidays are over, summer is far from over. This weekend there will be dancing, laughing, listening to music and marvelling in Berlin. It's really busy again - we've picked out the best the weekend has to offer. Here are our weekend tips with the 11 best events and tips in Berlin.

Tip 1: Tanz im August (Dancing in August)

Until the end of August you can visit the numerous events of the dance festival Tanz im August (Dancing in August). From contemporary dances and experimental choreographies to well-known stars of the dance scene, there is something for everyone. After all, the festival is one of the three most important dance festivals in Europe. Here the contact to other art forms, such as the fine arts, is always sought. At public talks, parties, films and more you can convince yourself of this.

Tip 2: Impromptus by Sasha Waltz & Guests

And we dance on to tip 2: Sasha Waltz & Guests shows you "Impromptus" until Sunday. With this work Sasha Waltz has created a choreography to classical music for the first time. Here emotions are explored on a sloping floor - between groundlessness and hovering. The individual dance scenes are not a coherent narrative, but use an abstract language.

Tip 3:  Berlin lacht! (Berlin is laughing)

Who doesn't like to laugh? For the whole month you can enjoy yourself at the Street Theatre Festival. The Alexanderplatz in Berlin will be transformed into a special stage on which numerous street artists will perform - they want to be at eye level with you, but above all they want to make you laugh. Admission is free.

When: until 9 September

Tip 4: Designer Garden Market

Flea market

In the Designer Garden Market you can shop under the open sky for very special designer pieces. Jewellery, fashion, furnishings and accessories are on offer. Get inspired.

When: Sunday, 12pm

Tip 5:  3. Irish Festival Berlin

The ufafabrik invites you to the Irish Festival in its covered summer garden. The festival takes place for the second time. Here musicians and dancers introduce themselves, who cultivate Irish music. Since the Irish are known for their exciting music scene, a visit is definitely worthwhile.

Tip 6: Stimmen der Nacht! 14. Internationaler Orgelsommer (Voices of the night! 14th International Organ Summer)

There is even more music at tip 6, but this time completely different: During the organ summer in Berlin Cathedral, pieces by Mendelssohn, Karg-Elert and Kromolicki will be played on the organ. That sounds like a very special concert.

Tip 7: Hellersdorfer Balkonkino (Open air cinema in Hellersdorf)

Balconies in Hellersdorf-Marzahn

Hellersdorfer Balkonkino (Open air cinema in Hellersdorf) is now well known far beyond its home neighbourhood. Every summer films are shown free of charge on the Cecilienplatz. The neighbours can watch the film directly from the balcony, everyone else brings chairs or picnic blankets. On Friday runs "Eat Pray Love".

Tip 8: Aquarella Berlin 2019

Ship ballet on the Spree, plus spectacular light and music - that's Aquarella. On a four-hour ship tour you will see Berlin in a completely different light: the buildings will shine under the illuminated evening sky, there will be elaborate fireworks and, at the end, even a pyro-musical with flamethrowers.

Tip 9: Big Band Black Bottom

Off to Spandau: On the open-air stage at the Zitadelle Spandau you can experience music for free and outdoors. The Big Band Black Bottom plays everything from dance music from the 20's, swing classics and hits of the 30's and 40's, but also newer and film music. And all this for free and with the spectacular backdrop of the Spandau Citadel.

When: Sunday, from 11am

Tip 10: 4. interactive plant labyrinth on the subject of eggs and chickens

As of Friday, the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment invites you to the BfR island. This is an interactive experience path in the plant labyrinth. There you will learn everything about chicken and eggs. Especially exciting for children!

When: from Friday, until 13 September

Tip 11: The last weekend of the Icelandic Horse World Championship

Karlshorst trotting course

This weekend the final shows of the Icelandic Horses World Championships will take place: 200 riders with horses from 18 countries will fight for the title. A special highlight awaits you on Saturday evening - the horse show "More Horsepower". So if you want to see Tölt and Rennpass, let's go.
