2019 is here! And after a short working week, the first weekend of the year is just around the corner. Let's be honest - we all still have some hangovers from the holidays and the turn of the year. So the weekend will probably not be too wild, so let's use the bleak days to check off some of the exhibitions that will take place in the coming days and that we never managed to get on the bucket list in 2018. We'll tell you in the weekend tips where you have to go now.
Tip 1: Visit soon I: Europa und das Meer (Europe and the sea)

Until Sunday you can visit the exhibition "Europe and the Sea" in the German Historical Museum. Even if it doesn't seem like it to us here in Germany and Central Europe, Europe has quite a few points of contact with the sea - more than all other continents. In this exhibition you will learn what influence the sea had and has on Europe's development beyond the coastal cities and holiday resorts.
When: until Sunday
Where: Deutsches Historisches Museum (German History Mueum)

Tip 2: Visit soon II: Tristan – Berlin shows teeth

His stay has been extended several times, but on Sunday it really is over. The T-Rex Tristan leaves the Museum of Natural History and thus Berlin. Therefore our tip: Take a look at one of the best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons in the world. With a length of 12 meters, Tristan is really impressive - and the only original T-Rex in Europe.
When: until Sunday
Where: Museum for Natural history

Tip 3: Visit soon III: George Grosz in Berlin

The Bröhan Museum shows an exhibition about George Grosz until Sunday. He was one of the most important political satirists of the Weimar Republic. In the exhibition you can see the works that have caused Grosz to be accused several times, but also his less known photographs.
When: until Sunday
Where: Bröhan Museum

Tip 4: Visit soon IV: Bewegte Zeiten – Archäologie in Deutschland (Restless Times - Archaeology in Germany)

The Martin-Gropius-Bau is also only showing its exhibition "Restless times - Archaeology in Germany" until Sunday, in which spectacular new archaeological finds are shown and new perspectives on old finds are offered. The exhibits from all German federal states tell a lot about mobility, conflict, exchange and innovation - because these have always shaped our coexistence in Europe.
When: until Sunday
Where: Martin-Gropius-Bau

Tip 5: Visit soon V: Bestandsaufnahme Gurlitt (Gurlitt: Status Report)

In November 2013, Hildebrand Gurlitt's art collection was confiscated by the Bavarian public prosecutor's office. Is it looted art from the Nazi era? In the large exhibition of the Martin-Gropius-Bau you can find out everything about the current state of research on the "Kunstfund Gurlitt" until Monday - with 450 works of art that have not been on view for a long time and their history.
When: until Monday
Where: Martin-Gropius-Bau

Tip 6: Visit soon VI: Lee Bul – Crash

Lee Bul is one of the most important artists in Korea. In her diverse oeuvre between performance and installation art, she explores dreams, ideals, and utopias. She is influenced by Sciene Fiction and Japanese anime. Until January 13, you can visit Lee Bul's first solo exhibition in Germany at the Martin-Gropius-Bau.

Tip 7: Visit soon VII: taut scharoun – Arbeiten von Albert Weis (Work from Albert Weis)

Albert Weis photographs well-known architecture such as the Berlin Philharmonic, but shows it from unusual angles. His photographs do not simply depict the buildings, but want to explore the architectural language of the buildings with the sculptor's gaze. Until 14 January, you can admire the exciting photographs in the Kunsthaus Dahlem.
When: until January 14th
Where: Kunsthaus Dahlem

Tip 11: Photo exhibition Leading Ladies

Now we have already arrived in 2019, when the concept of the First Lady seems almost a bit outdated. But exactly this contradiction is taken up by the museum The Kennedys in its museum about the First Ladies Jackie Kennedy, Nancy Reagan, Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama. There are over 70 photographs by various photographers to be seen here, some of them are rare original photos. With the help of historical documents and rare film footage, the exhibition also aims to approach the self-image and tasks of a First Lady.
When: until February 24th
Where: Museum The Kennedys

Hallo, etwas einseitig,…
Hallo,
Verena
