Thanks to Ascension Day we start the weekend planning early! On Thursday you can treat yourself to a day of rest or you can visit the historic harbour festival in Berlin, feast on pizza and art, romp with the kiddies at the fun fair in Staaken or listen to jazzy sounds on the banks of the Landwehrkanal at XJAZZ Berlin.
Hafenfest Berlin - At the historic harbour
No, Berlin is (still not) at the sea. But we still have historical harbour basins and harbour festivals anyway. What the programme promises: 3 stages, street food, wine growers, games for children, handicrafts and trade. What we promise ourselves: a lot of variety, a great atmosphere and a little breeze of sea feeling.
10-13 May
Staaken Children's and Folk Festival
In Staaken there is break dance, bumper cars and chain planes this weekend - everything the fair heart desires. Who doesn't dare yet is in good hands on the children's carousel. Those who no longer dare can enjoy the hustle and bustle with fresh waffles and candied fruits.
May Days in Neukölln
You need more carnival? No problem: The Neukölln May Days (Neuköllner Maientage) in the Hasenheide Park are Berlin's biggest park festival. Until 21 May 2018 there will be funfairs, fireworks (always on Saturdays) and delicious food.
XJAZZ - Berlin Jazz Festival 2018
Every year it is a highlight for Berlin's music scene and all jazz fans: From Landwehrkanal to Oberbaumbrücke, jazz lovers celebrate the most diverse interpretations and styles of this multi-faceted musical style at the XJAZZ Festival. Venues are: The Watergate, the Flux Bau, the Prince Charles, the Monarch, the Privatclub amongst others. Tickets for the XJAZZ Festival are available here.

Wanderlust - desire to wander
Does your wanderlust grab you sometimes? Just out, out into nature, discover untouched places, wildly romantic, adventurous, rough and beautiful? Then you're not alone. Not only in times of smartphones, instagram and travel bloggers we have the longing to get out, to leave the stress and the modern behind us and to breathe a sigh of relief. Casper David Friedrich in his famous painting "Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer" was undoubtedly particularly apt. The loan from the Hamburger Kunsthalle is now the starting point for the new exhibition in the Alte Nationalgalerie, which starts on 10 May and invites us to linger and dream.
Berlin's unique Gin Festival 2018
Yes yes, It's Gin o'clock. Of course, the it piece among the spirits needs its own festival. And it will get it, and for the second time: from 12-13 May, the Malzfabrik will be transformed into a Mecca for all true gin fans. Up to 20 excellent exhibitors are expected. In addition there are food trucks, tastings and a crackling aftershow party.
Date: 12-13 May 2018
Bite Club Season Launch 2018
What would summer in Berlin be without delicious food, good conversation and cool drinks on the banks of the Spree? I'm sure it's only half as beautiful. And that's why we are happy that Berlin's food scene has its popular Bite Club back this weekend. As always, great DJs, refreshing drinks and international delicacies such as Japanese pancakes, Thai barbecue and homemade ice cream await you.

Bölschefest 2018 - The 28th festival at Bölsche
Friedrichshagen is also busy this weekend. On offer here are stage programmes, specially opened shops and a colourful market where you can admire and buy antiques, junk and secondhand, but also art and manufactured goods. A special highlight is the fireworks over Lake Müggelsee on Saturday evening.
