ISTAF INDOOR, transmediale & exhibitions: Here are the top 11 events for the weekend

 After the handball world championship, ISTAF INDOOR will continue its sporting activities. The festival month of February will ring in, and Berlin has something for art lovers this weekend. We'll tell you what's going on in Berlin in the weekend tips.

Tip 1: ISTAF INDOOR 2019

Higher, faster, further! The world's largest athletics meeting will take place on Friday in Berlin! Athletics fans can look forward to many exciting competitions in sprint, discus, long jump and other exciting disciplines.

Tip 2: transmediale

The transmediale is one of the most important festivals for art and digital culture. This year, the event focuses on emotions in digital culture. Workshops round off the lectures, short films and screenings. The opening will take place on Thursday at the House of World Cultures. Admission is free.

Tip 3: CTM turns 20!

The CTM festival for contemporary electronic music and art takes place in collaboration with transmediale. In this anniversary year, everything revolves around perseverance and perseverance. Tip 4 : Last Chance: Exhibition Berlin in the Revolution 1918/19

Until Sunday you can still have a look at the photography exhibition about the revolution in winter and spring 1918/19. The pictures of the press photographers of that time show scenes of the revolution as well as the entertainment culture of that time. Destroyed houses, speeches, poster advertising, cinema and cabaret visits: don't miss this insight from revolution and everyday life!

Tip 5: Agnieszka Polska: The Demon’s Brain

Last chance also for this exhibition! Agnieszka Polska won the ninth prize of the National Gallery in 2017. Until Sunday she will exhibit her works in a solo exhibition. In particular, the artist creates video works from illustrations and archive photography, thus awakening a sense of longing.

Tip 6: Exhibition Objects of Wonder

Sculptures in all shapes and colours! The collection of around 70 masterpieces by British artists shows the development of contemporary sculpture since the middle of the 20th century. Everyday objects are presented here in a new light.

All vintage fans watch out! On Sunday you can travel back in time in the Ballhaus Berlin and find your new favorite vintage accessory! In addition to the fashion from the 1920s to the 1970s, there are also drinks at the bar and a café in the style of the 20s. Sunday is shopping day!

Tip 8: Späth’sche Wine Route

What a weekend for all wine lovers among us! Around 300 winegrowers present their wines in the Späth'schen tree nurseries and invite you to taste them. You only have to pay one entrance fee and then you can taste all the wines accompanied by music. Whoever gets an appetite in between is in good hands at the Hofcafé Späth.

Tip 9: Snooker: German Masters 2019

One last chance - for the art exhibition about the Expressionist Otto Mueller and his time in Breslau! There he taught for over 10 years at the Staatliche Akademie für Kunst und Kunstgewerbe. The exhibition focuses on the artist's influence on the diverse trends of painting at the time, such as Expressionism and Bauhaus.

Tip 11: Sausage and beer

If you want to end the weekend with a hearty meal, the Markthalle Neun is the right place for you. On Sunday it's all about sausage and beer. Already for the sixth time there is an invitation to feast. On this Sunday, everything revolves around the own production among the craft beer brewers and butchers. Tasting is of course allowed!
