In addition to many swimming opportunities in and around Berlin, the swimming ship is something very special. A former barge, once used for transporting all kinds of goods, is now firmly anchored in the eastern harbour and functions as a swimming pool. Whether you cool off in the 2m deep pool or enjoy a few drinks in the beach bar, the swimming ship has a unique panorama and is certainly one of the most extraordinary places in Berlin.

Berlin Cathedral provides an impressive backdrop for visitors to the Lustgarten. It is an integral part of Berlin tradition for a perfect summer day. Berlin's oldest garden invites you to sunbathe on the extensive green areas or refresh yourself in the fountain in front of the Berlin Cathedral. In this historic area on Museum Island, you can not only relax and refresh yourself, but also admire art in a museum that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

The offer ranges from traditional ice creams to exotic ones and alcoholic cocktail ice creams. For example, the Hokey Pokey in Stargarder Straße in Prenzlauer Berg is thought to sell the best ice cream in town and wins people over with an unusual and crazy selection of ice cream flavours that are just right for a hot summer day.

Water sports, swimming, beaches... all this is no problem in Berlin. As already mentioned, Berlin always feels like a holiday in summer. If you love summer action, you can surf on Lake Müggelsee or rent a variety of watercrafts, while at Schlachtensee you can have the perfect swimming experience in clear water. It becomes a little more idyllic in the direction of Brandenburg, where there are not only swimming lakes but also beautiful nature to enjoy. Here, for example, the clear Liepnitzsee and the Groß Glienicker See with its isolated bays are recommended for private swimming fun.

Along the Spree and other rivers and canals that wind through the city, there is also plenty of water bodies in Berlin. As a result, there are countless restaurants right on the shore. Ankerklause on the border between Neukölln and Kreuzberg is one of these restaurants and also a popular trendy meeting place. Even closer to the water is the Freischwimmer, which was built directly above the tide ditch and has a unique atmosphere, especially in the dark.

Shopping despite the scorching heat is no problem in one of the air-conditioned shopping malls in Berlin. There's something for every taste. In the Potsdamer Platz Arkaden, you will find all the big chains as well as many smaller and more individual shops. The Mall of Berlin, with its elegant boutiques and a large food court, is somewhat more upscale. There is a fine selection in Germany's most famous department store, KaDeWe, the department store of the west. Bikini Berlin is Berlin's first concept mall and is located right next to the Zoological Garden.

Beer gardens are perfect for cooling off under shady trees and for cool drinks on hot summer days. Beer has been served in the Prater Beer Garden in the Prenzlauer Berg district since 1837, where you can sit together in a relaxed atmosphere. The beer garden is equally popular with Berliners and visitors to the city and is therefore one of the top summer locations in Berlin. Not least because of its traditional beer garden atmosphere on ale-benches under old trees.

A visit to a museum is also a good way to keep the heat at bay for a few hours in summer. On Museum Island in Berlin-Mitte, you can find five museums and discover art and culture. The best part is that you only need one ticket for all five exhibitions. In the Feuerle Collection, a Lake Room has additional cooling with large water areas in the bunker and exciting exhibits from the Désiré Feuerle Collection.

Viktoriapark in Kreuzberg

A nature spectacle in the middle of Berlin - the waterfall in Victoria Park is modelled on the landscape in the Giant Mountains. Imagine strolling through Kreuzberg's streets and suddenly standing in front of a waterfall with a mountainous landscape. This contrast is always worth a visit. The waterfall will cool you down especially in summer. Viktoria Park with its legendary beer garden Golgatha invites you to take a break in the shade on hot days and is thus one of the top summer locations in Berlin.

The black and white tailcoats romp around in their penguin house in cool temperatures - just watch, cool down, and relax! In the aquarium you can also see rays, sharks, and other aquatic life. A visit to the aquarium and the penguin house is a great experience in the capital, especially for children.

There are countless of these in Berlin. The latest blockbusters are shown in multiplex cinemas and there is also a wide range of alternative cinemas, such as the Tilsiter Lichtspiele in Friedrichshain, where home-brewed beer is sold. On warm summer days, open-air cinemas are the first choice for watching a film outdoors in the mild summer air. The range of open-air cinemas also extends from Hollywood to alternative. Whether large cinemas with a beautiful ambience such as the Friedrichshain open-air cinema or small backyard cinemas, the selection is huge.
