Berlin's hotels send you festive Christmas and holiday greetings. Even though it is currently very difficult to offer overnight stays, the hotels in Berlin are looking forward to welcoming you as guests again. Here are a few tips on how to bring a festive hotel atmosphere home. Many thanks to all Berlin hotels that have participated.
Tip 1: Waldorf Astoria: Festive mulled wine
Ingredients:
750 ml good quality red wine like Primitivo, Nero d’Avola or Cabernet Sauvignon
200 ml Crème de Cassis
150 ml Water
150 g Caster sugar
10 whole cloves
3 pc dried ginger
3 cinnamon sticks
3 star anise
2 pods cardamom
1 big orange
1. In a saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and spices (keep 5 cloves). Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer
2. Cut the orange in half, and squeeze the juice into the simmering water. Push the cloves into the outside of the orange peel, and place peel in the simmering water. Continue simmering for 30 minutes, until thick and syrupy.
3. Pour in the wine and Crème de Cassis, and heat until steaming but not simmering. Remove the clove-studded orange halves. Serve hot in mugs or glasses that have been preheated in warm water (cold glasses will break.)

The perfect Christmas goose: this year it comes from the kitchen of the Schlosshotel Berlin by Patrick Hellmann. From now on you can order your very special Christmas goose at least 48 hours in advance. The crispy bird is served with classic side dishes such as red cabbage, kale and dumplings. One goose fills up about four people and costs 160 Euros with all side dishes. You can pick up your goose until Christmas Eve at 14:00.

Tip 5: Bar at Steinplatz - It's cocktail o'clock
Christmas greetings from the Bar am Steinplatz: Bar Manager Willi Bittorf presents his favourite cocktail for Christmas Eve. He - as well as his family - swear by Steinplatz Soyer, preferably already as dessert or as the crowning glory of a wonderful evening.
You need:
1 scoop of ice cream (depending on taste and mood)
1,5cl brandy
1,5cl orange liqueur
1,5cl cherry liqueur
1,5cl cream
100-150ml sparkling wine
Mix all the ingredients carefully in the glass and gently pour on the champagne. Of course you are welcome to vary the liqueurs in the recipe. Everything is allowed that pleases and above all tastes good. The team of the Bar am Steinplatz sends you a hearty cheers and wishes you an enjoyable party!

For one serving of Pink Christmas Lady you need:
250 ml cranberry or cherry juice
4cl elderflower syrup
2cl fresh lemon/lime juice or verjus
Simply mix, heat, sprinkle Christmas spice dust over it and you'll be warm to the taste. It's good for you.
