Friedliche Revolution (The Peaceful Revolution 1989/90) // The open-air exhibition at Alexanderplatz focuses on the events of 1989/90, the peaceful revolution and the end of the GDR.
May 7 until November 14, 2009

Berlin im Wandel (Sites of Change) // The sites of change in Berlin's history and development are marked by a vast helium balloon shaped like a red arrow and include installations, banners or display boards showing the changes to the buildings' facades. These temporary projects are all centred around an info box with a café – the starting point for tours of the vicinity.

Fest der Freiheit - Festival on November 9 // The Festival of Freedom will be kicked off in the evening with a concert performed by the Berliner Staatskapelle under the direction of its world-famous conductor ,Daniel Barenboim. Afterward, the symbolic fall of the Wall will take place with live television broadcasts of the event throughout Germany. Another highlight will be thesubsequent fireworks display and laser show above Brandenburg Gate. Prominent figures of contemporary history and politics have indicated their attendance.

Berlin schoolchildren will design 2.50 m high and 80 cm wide dominos that they will put up along the former border. On November 9th, the day of the fall of the wall, the chain of dominos will be knocked over from one side. The last domino will fall at the Brandenburg Gate.
