The museum island is the centrepiece of Berlin's museums. Its five buildings form a shrine to the arts, a vast cultural and historical vista spanning from Ancient Egypt to the end of the 19th century. This museum ensemble, unrivalled the world over, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.

Schloss Charlottenburg Schloß Charlottenburg, the largest and most beautiful palace in Berlin, is a shining example of baroque architecture.
