On tour with the wheelchair and the public transportation
In the last few years, the public transportation of Berlin (BVG and S-Bahn) has done a lot to make the transportation for wheelchairs even more convenient. 51 underground and 118 suburban train stations are equipped with elevators or ramps, to provide easy access to the platforms.
The transport network and city maps of the public transportation of Berlin BVG and S-Bahn (suburban train) show all stations accessible for wheelchairs.
Bus and Tram
The new busses of the public transportation are equipped with a ramp that can be lowered, in order to permit convenient access for wheelchairs. these ramps are placed at the entrance in the middle of the bus, busses with ramps are used on over 100 lines.
The trams consist of modern trains with a low floor, which also have ramps that can be lowered. these trams circulate on 14 lines. You can press a special stop button in order to get on or off the tram, and the conductor will lower a ramp for you at the first door of the wagon.
