This association (ABSV) provides a special service for blind and partially sighted people which grants different access to Berlin and its surroundings. Detailed information about special tailored holiday offers in certain destinations are displayed on www.absv.de/freizeit

The public transportation of Berlin (BVG) has installed guidance stripes in over 40 subway stations. the surface of these stripes is corrugated to mark the edge of the platforms.
Many city train stations are also equipped with these stripes, a lot of traffic lights apply special signals and switches that react by touch.

In the new central station Hauptbahnhof a nearly complete information and guide system for the blind and visually handicapped people is installed to make the orientation easier. A new service website www.absv.de informs (in German only) about the station and the guide system.

The Bundestag in the Reichstag offers an exceptional service for visually handicapped people. They have the possibility to visit not only the but also the visitor´ s gallery but also the plenary chamber. A visit in the Bundestag should arranged in advance.

The Museum for blind persons is located in the district Berlin-Steglitz. It displays an exhibition about the history and difficulty of being blind. A great part of the exhibits may be touched, so they can be "grasped" in another sense.

The scent and tactile garden offers blind and visually handicapped people the opportunity to discover the variety of the flora by the scent and the sense of touch. For this purpose the plants are arranged in high beds.

For 120 years the workshop for blind people in the district Kreuzberg had been producing brushes, rulers, combs and swabs in manual work. In 1998 a group of young designers engineered a new line of products. Accessoires such as the note-brush or the swab for lefthanded are supposed to animate the reflection about normality.
