U2, S1, S2, S26 Potsdamer Platz

You should allow extra time in order discover Potsdamer Platz (1) which overtops the metropolis with its high buildings. It is easily reached by bus or train and it is a perfect place for shopping or seeing the newest movies in one of the cinemas.
Potsdamer Platz Arkaden is a big and bright shopping mall where you will find an assortment of more than 100 shops. Many places offer culinary deliciousness around Potsdamer Platz - optional exotic food or typical meals from Berlin.
Young and old cineasts will get on their money worth in the IMAX-cinema at Sony Center, where films with 3-D-animation are shown on a huge screen.
In order to get a great view over the city amounting to 90 metres you should take the fastest lift of Europe to the observation desk of bricks-built Kollhoff-Building.

For those who like to be scared and who are more than 10 years old, the scary-cabinet (Gruselkabinett) (2) is a place to go. The scare is at home in Schöneberger Straße in an old air raid shelter. You can walk this small distance from Potsdamer Platz to Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park or you go one stop by underground. All fans of spook have to pass through a labyrinth, to elude scary physiques or to go across a weirdly cemetery, everything accompanied by strange smells and sounds. No one will forget the experiences in the scary cabinet!

U2 Potsdamer Platz

To the scary-cabinet you can take the underground U2 from station Potsdamer Platz in direction Ruhleben and leave at the next station Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park. Driving time: 2 min.

Those who eager for knowledge should go to the station Gleisdreieck that is two stops away from Potsdamer Platz. The Deutsches Technikmuseum (3) is located in Trebbiner Straße. You cannot pass it as an old American plane is fastened at the exterior wall.

The museum is a place for learning and experiencing living culture for children with the motto " Learning through experience". Veteran cars, locomotives and planes, looms, computers, diesel engines, steam engines, printing presses and much more can be visited in 14 big compartments. The workshops offer the possibility to familiarize with the different machines, e.g. the wooden press which prints paper or a loom. For those who would like to be on TV visit the TV studio and play the newscaster' s part.
Spectrum is situated a few steps away from Technikmuseum and it is a big science centre where many questions to native phenomena will be answered. More than 250 experiments try to explain the physical procedures between earth, heaven and water.

U2 Potsdamer Platz

To the Technikmuseum take the underground U2 from Potsdamer Platz, direction Ruhleben, until station Gleisdreieck. Driving time: 3 min.

If the weather is not so good and you like to romp, scramble, crumble or slide, you can visit the indoor-playground PUPS (4). The playground with bistro and restaurant is a few steps away from Checkpoint Charlie and the underground station Kochstraße. The underground line U2 carry you from Potsdamer Platz to Stadtmitte.
Here you will have to change to line U6 and will pass one stop. PUPS is a perfect place where children can take a bath in coloured balls and play electronic games like "Wer wird Millionär" (Who wants to be a millionaire?) or the classical ones like chess while the parents relax with a cup of coffee.

To the indoor playground PUPS take the underground U2 direction Pankow to Stadtmitte, change to line U6 direction Alt-Mariendorf and leave at station Kochstraße. Driving time: ca. 8 min.
