What began with peaceful squatting in 1979 has grown together into a unique alternative centre today. The international cultural centre ufaFabrik Berlin is located on the premises of the former UFA film laboratory, from which it derives its name, and is host to numerous cultural and social projects.

A wide range of programmes consisting of theatre, concerts, cabaret, variety shows, dance, minor arts and literature awaits the visitor on the four stages of the ufaFabrik, among these the auditorium, the Varieté salon, the Wolfgang-Neuss salon and the canopied open-air theatre. International guest ensembles appreciate working with the ufaFabrik, because here they encounter a unique combination of living, working, culture, creativity and social life.

The activities of the app. 30 residents and 160 employees in their commitment as neighbourhood community centre deserve special mention. While a children’s farm, a children’s circus festival and in-house circus school provide great adventures for the little guests, the Café Ole is open to recharge your batteries, from breakfast to a cool beer after work.

As a project for alternative forms of living and working, the site of the ufaFabrik with its rooftop gardens, in-house organic bakery and decentralized energy supply has gained a reputation as the “green oasis in the big city”. Educational programmes, sports lessons and workshops for all age groups round off the diverse programmes offered on the 18,000 sqm premises of the ufaFabrik.
