Das Schloss

Shopping in ‘Das Schloss’ is an extraordinary experience: the visitor is surrounded by gold, palm trees, sculptures, stucco and elaborate light projections. Whale song can be heard, and scents of the sea contribute to an atmosphere of relaxation and well-being as you shop. Built on four levels, Das Schloss offers everything you would expect in a department store, from fashion for men and women, electronics and sports shops to cafés, bakeries and banks. Is most unusual feature is its architecture. Firstly, the interior nestles inside a town hall of gothic design. Secondly, the centre freely redesigns the heavens above Berlin: an ultramodern projection system on the roof makes it possible to create any kind of realistic or fantasy sky – day or night, sun and clouds, outer space or the ocean depths.

Equally unique is the presence of the three studios of Berlin’s radio broadcasters ‘rs2’, “Kiss FM’ and ‘Berliner Rundfunk’, all transmitting live from the middle of the centre - and you can watch the presenters at work.
