Berliner Kriminal Theater
Berliner Kriminal Theater
It wasn’t the gardener!
Electrifying suspense and exciting entertainment: at Berlin’s ‘Criminal’ theatre, gooseflesh is guaranteed! The theatre located at the Umspannwerk.Ost offers great entertainment in tried and tested ‘Who-dunnit’ fashion, just like on TV.
The name Agatha Christie has been synonymous for suspense for over 80 years. The film versions of her detective stories are known and loved by all age groups - and of course Miss Marple is must-see on stage as well - that is why the theatre offers three of her adventures among its permanent repertoire.
Also shown are stories adapted from Sherlock Holmes’ literary father Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the Swedish Wallander author Henning Mankell, Joseph Kesselrings’ classic ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’ and many other pearls of ‘who-dunnit’ history.
But with all its rather sinister repertoire, the theatre does feature humour as well: the music revue "Der Mörder ist immer der Gärtner" (The Gardener is always the Murderer) - a story of murdering gardening enthusiasts and homicidal gardeners - focuses on dark villains and black humour. The combination of suspense and parody presented here will make for a great night out.
The theatre is located at the Umspannwerk.Ost, a 100-year-old former substation for Berlin's electricity company. Today, this historical building is home to a restaurant and theatre club in addition to the Berliner Kriminal Theater.
Please note that all performances are in German.
